Can I add a battery to my existing solar?
Often, yes. We assess your inverter, switchboard, available space and energy use to find a compatible approach. You can also plan new solar and battery storage together.
Can I charge from free or cheaper grid electricity?
Some electricity plans offer free or lower-rate time windows. Availability, eligibility, usage caps and other charges vary by retailer and location. Your battery must support grid charging and be configured for your plan; we assess the whole tariff, not just the free window.
Will a home battery charge my electric car?
Stored energy can contribute to EV charging where the system is designed for it. Your vehicle, charger, household load, battery capacity and output determine how much. Grid power may still be needed; a home battery does not necessarily provide a full vehicle charge.
Will my battery work during a blackout?
Only with compatible backup equipment and the appropriate configuration. Backup can supply selected circuits, or more of the home where designed to do so. Transfer time and duration depend on equipment, battery charge and connected loads. EV charging is assessed separately.
Do I need solar to qualify for the federal battery discount?
Under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, eligible batteries must connect to an existing or newly installed solar PV system and meet the program’s other requirements. Solar and a battery can be installed together. Eligibility and the discount are assessed for your project.
